Service and the outdoors are essential parts of the Rover Scout program. Rover Scouts often participate in adventurous activities, self-directed camping and outdoor opportunities, and community service projects.

Rover Scouts meet in a group called a crew. These young men and women develop and manage their own program under the mentorship of a respected adult advisor.

Because Rover-aged young adults have many other responsibilities and busy schedules, meetings, events and activities are scheduled by the Rover Crew to work within their scheduling needs. The Rover Scouts frequently join together with the Venturer Scouts for weekend, camping and service projects, and to provide mentorship to the youth in the Venturing program.
